The first time I met Hannah, she was just a Freshman in the Taylor High School Color Guard. — You probably know the Color Guard as the kids with flags, rifles and streamers during football halftime performances. That’s only part of the story. After football season ends, these kids continue practicing and competing throughout the winter.
I absolutely love photographing official school groups like the CG because it gives me a chance to meet and get to know a little bit about these kids.
It may not be fair to say so, but I always have a few “favorites,” and Hannah was definitely one. I just always loved her sweet smile and spunky attitude — so I was thrilled when she came into the studio for her senior portraits.
After graduation Hannah will head east to her family’s “home country” where she will attend classes at Louisiana State University as a pre-med student, leaning toward pediatric medicine.

And I couldn’t help but dig out her freshman color guard pictures (below) … She is definitely the same sweet girl I met back in the fall of 2009… Just a little more grown up and college-ready.

Just last night GT surprised Rachel with a Biblical foot-washing… and while he was down on his knees he had a very special question to ask her.
She said yes.
I am Soooo happy for this sweet young couple. Can’t wait to witness the blessing that God has in store for them in the days and years ahead.

It’s been a while since this lifestyle session took place, but since the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo is in town,it seems like this is an appropriate time to share a few images from a dusty early morning in West Texas .

I’ve known John since we were both scrawny little fourth graders — and that was more than just a few years ago.
We totally drifted into separate worlds as life and families came along, but became reacquainted through Facebook a few years ago. Not only is he a skilled horseman, but he’s also become very thoughtful and talented writer.
When I was back in Midland a while back, I had an opportunity to ride out to his property which he calls Rancho Notso Grande. (GOTTA love that name) so I could photograph him working and caring for his magnificent animals.
What a treat!

This baby girl, about as sweet as a strawberry sundae with whipped cream and sprinkles on top, came to visit me the other day.
We had planned for an outdoor session, but the cold wet weather made us change our plans and move into the studio. I’m so thankful on days like this for the flexibility of backup locations, because Baby, Mama and Daddy were all safe, dry, cozy and comfortable for our time together.

Mommy and Daddy, also known as Kristin and Bobby have a long and romantic history together. It all started when Bobby fell heels over head in love with his best friend’s little sister back in high school. That’s about all there is to it. In actuality, their Love Story would probably make a pretty good movie, except they’ve only just started living it. We’ll just have to check back in with them over years to read the happy epilogue. Personally I think it will include a happily ever after with picket fences, puppy dogs, and silly songs– Kool Aid mustaches, and finger paints — Dancing on Daddy’s feet and of course, lots and lots of Butterfly Kisses.

I can’t begin to say how much I enjoyed getting to know this sweet family. I so look forward to watching and photographing more scenes for their movie.
Popcorn anyone?

Today we celebrate the one-year anniversary of a super sweet couple, Laura and John.

I thought a walk through their wedding album would be just the ticket for today’s trip down memory lane.
Happy Anniversary, you two. Here’s to many many more years.
