I don’t know where to begin when I talk about Chloe. Maybe this is one of those times where a picture really is worth a thousand words.
For a little background, I’ve known Chloe’s family for quite some time, and was honored beyond belief when I got to accompany them to the airport with my camera several years ago to pick up her dad after he finished his final overseas military deployment. Those old images still bring tears to my eyes when I go back through them!
And then a year ago, I got to create Chloe’s sister’s senior portraits.
So, you probably can imagine how much I was looking forward to this photoshoot.

Chloe’s a natural beauty in that fresh-scrubbed girl next door sort of style, so even when she arrived bare-faced after school, she looked gorgeous.
Then, but after a little time in the chair here at the studio with hair and makeup artist, Cintya, she absolutely GLOWED!

We built a lovely portrait album from her session, and Chloe chose some scriptures that are special to her for several of the pages.

Won’t she have fun looking at these and sharing them with her children and her nieces and nephews one day?
Oh, the leaf-drop! We threw leaves in the air over and over again until we could get a frame where the leaves were in the air but not blocking her face, and her eyes were open.
Of course it took us even longer because we were both laughing so hard!

In addition to being a very bright student, Chloe also runs cross country.

Chloe is a young woman who sees God’s love everywhere she looks — and she reflects that love and joy back to others thousand-fold. She’s spent her summer serving as a youth-group intern for her church, working with kids here in town and on mission trips.
Before long she will be on her way to East Texas Baptist University in Marshall where she will continue to grow in grace as she continues her education.

Okay y’all, stranger things may have happened, but I believe I might be losing my mind. At least I’m a little bit sick to my stomach.
When I sat down to write my latest blog post, I realized that my site was missing a ton of senior portrait posts for the class of 2015. I blogged and posted these during the school year before graduation. I KNOW I did … but they are missing without a trace! Gorgeous kids. Fun anecdotes from our sessions. Gone. All Gone. Cyber-Gremlins, I”m sure. I don’t have an answer, but I have some calls in to some folks who know what to do in a situation like this.
I DO KNOW PEOPLE!!! We will figure this out.
In the meantime, I’ll be keeping a very close eye on my security as I bust out a few of the images from my favorite sessions of the year for a blog marathon which will probably last several weeks. Today we’re starting with Nicole!
Beautiful Nicole, a dancer, a Cinco Star, and a 2015 graduate of Cinco Ranch High School.
Hair and Makeup by Cintya Velderrain at SPCcreative Photography Studio

Oh, we had fun together. I was so glad I got to know her.

She’s smart too. She’ll be studying this fall at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Oh, Nicole. You were a joy to work with. I have to be sappy now. As you go forward into life, I hope you dance.
UGH! Did I really just say that?

Thank you Nicole! Have a great year at college!

This is Emma Lee …. She’s a senior at Cy Fair High School, Class of 2015, and she is savoring every minute of her senior year. Is she not DA BOMB?

I first met this beauty about two or three years ago when her mom and I were in the same Sunday School class at church. You can imagine my excitement when she called to set up her portrait session. I knew that this girl would positively glow in front of the lens — and she did! Yeah… we had her stop smiling for a few serious images, but that was a challenge. She just loves to smile – and she does it so well.

Get a load of that awesome Cy-Fair Brigade smile. When this girl takes the field, who needs floodlights?

Emma loves to dance. That is just who she is.

We had so much fun working together. I love her bubbly carefree spirit … and one of my favorite memories of our session was the night she came to pick up her order. She had just been to Florida to participate in the halftime show for the Citrus Bowl where she was on the VERY FRONT ROW of about a bazillion dancers selected from all over the country. We watched a video of the performance, but I couldn’t keep my eyes on the little screen because Miss Emma performed the entire routine LIVE — right there in front of us.
Oh my stars, how I love her spirit!
Congratulations on your senior year, Emma. Continue to enjoy every single minute as you move on into this big bright world. Just keep on shining!

Have you noticed a trend with my seniors lately?
Scroll back through my last few senior posts… Beautiful… Sweet… GORGEOUS… SUPER COOL… Amazing…Stunning.
Well, here’s another. Meet Maddi! She ABSOLUTELY SPARKLES on her own, but having Cintya Velderrain bring her professional hair and makeup skills to the shoot — PURE WIN!

I first met Maddi a year ago when one of her friends came to view and select his senior portraits at SPCcreative Photography. You can probably imagine how THRILLED I was to see her walk through my doors again!

Get a load of those EYES! Oh MY!

Because she swam with the varsity swim team at Seven Lakes High School, Maddi and her mom wanted to create some fun and unique images that highlighted her swimming talents, so we decided to incorporate her bright green flippers and her goggles with a white formal gown. How cute is THAT?

Maddi has spent a good part of her summer coaching a kids’ swim team in her neighborhood,
but as that is wrapping up, she’s packing up her room and getting ready to head off to college where she is bound to be a head-turner.

Congratulations on your graduation, Maddi, and BEST Wishes for a great first year of college. When the finals drive you nearly batty, just come back and see me at the studio

LIFE’s A BEACH!

Creating Shana’s senior portraits made me SUPER happy for several great reasons.
First, she and her mother came to my studio just a few years after I photographed her older brother as a senior. It’s just so encouraging to receive that extra vote of confidence when clients come back again.

Shana first caught my eye and attention when she was a typical Freshman and a member of the Taylor High School Color Guard. I’ve photographed that group since before she entered high school, and it’s been fun to see her become such a sweet, gentle, and self-assured young lady.
She always had a big sparkly smile for me both from the stands and from the field when I was covering the high school football games. Well, maybe she wasn’t looking for the camera from the field. She was concentrating on her show — as she should be — but I loved watching for her because she was definitely one of my favorites.
She’s probably one of your favorites too, if you’ve had a chance to get to know her.

I’m very excited to watch the next phase in her life as she heads to North Texas State where she will study … WAIT FOR IT . . . .

WAIT FOR IT — WAIT FOR IT–
Where she will study PHOTOGRAPHY! That’s it! A girl after my own heart!
So, Shana — I expect you to bring back your portfolio and come visit when you get home at Christmas time because I want to see what you do! Deal?

Oh, Morgan! What an absolutely BEAUTIFUL Senior!

I’m so glad that I have had a chance to get to know this young lady over the last couple or three years. She’s not only modeled for me before, but she has also helped me at the studio and assisted at events and photo shoots. I’m thrilled that she’s graduated but I AM GOING TO MISS knowing I can pick up the phone and count on her when I need her.

We started Morgan’s senior portrait session with an in-studio hair and makeup session by Cintya Hernandez-Velderrain. While Cintya comes to my studio for our clients, she also makes Katy women beautiful on a daily basis at her Hair and Makeup Studio located in Sola Salon on Westheimer Parkway. She’s even done MY Hair and makeup — and I was THRILLED with the results. I love the way she emphasizes our best features and still keeps us looking like ourselves. She’s fairly new in town, so it’s still not too hard to get in to her schedule, but that probably won’t last long.
Too bad I can’t swing having her here in the studio to shoosh my curls and polish my image every day… but of course, she CAN be here for YOUR portrait session or special event. Can’t beat that! Just ask about hair and makeup services when you call to schedule your session.

Morgan won a special award through FFA this year for her work in Equine Science, and she plans to further her studies in that field at Blinn and then at Texas A&M.
Ahhh…. someone to live out another of my dream careers. I’ll be watching!
